Artist's Comments

This is the design that helped me realize that I could actually create something worthy of the title art. This actually began as a random sketch on the back of a handout while I was taking a class. I drew random doodles all the time on the back of random scraps of paper, in the margins of my notes, and on the backs of handouts, etc. but this one grabbed the attention of a few people while I was still on the first circle.

Once I covered the entire page with random elements, I realized that those doodles i did could actually be something worth doing more seriously, so I felt this would be the best image to put up as my first deviation.

I can't seem to find the original scan of this image and I don't have a working scanner at the moment, so I'll just have to put up a slightly smaller file until I can re-create the image digitally.

That's absolutely gorgeous, you've totally got a natural talent for this. I can easily say that this is a talent enviable by all, professional or not.

Awesome work, keep it up.

Excellent design. You wouldn't believe how many times I've used words like "random" and "lucky" in my artist comments. As you practice, people won't say it's random or luck but skill and talent. You'll still know better though. :) To me, art is a bit of all these elements combined. Also, any time you are able to use a tool to it's limit despite it's cost, you've accomplished a great piece of art. All you've used is a simple pencil, red pen, and plain paper. Seeing as you've well mastered this, you can move on to other tools and see what happens, i.e. pastels and heavy weight, rough paper or technical pens and smooth marker paper.

At least that's my opinion. ;) Awesome job regardless.

Thank you for the kind words and the favorite. :)

Right now I've been mostly using Flash to do the actual designs with PhotoShop for cleanup (I love the precision of being able to rotate an element exactly 15 degrees), but I have thought about trying some work on a larger canvas with markers or maybe even paint at some point.
